I've never claimed to be a writer, but it's nice to have a place to put my thoughts down once in a while.

Sunday Scrappin'

There's this neat group over at Sunday Scrappin' where you can post your ToDo's for the week and the TaDa's you've accomplished over the past week. There's also an optional challenge. The challenge for this week: add some texture to your project. Use textured scrapbook paper, sand paper, paint... whatever you can think of!

My ToDo's for this week... Send out the cards I made at last week's Craft Club. No plans for scapping right now, but you never know.

My TaDa's were... Although I had no plans to scrap, I wound up making a card for my parent's anniversary.

Being the rotten daughter I am, I forgot to wish them a happy anniversary, on the day of. I remembered it. I just didn't have the opportunity to do it. Or get them anything, or make a card for them.
I was feeling bad about not even mentioning it to them and I got to thinking about this stamp my friend Kim has from Stampin' Up. I had seen it last week at our craft club (where I made last week's challenge). But my friend is out of town on account of the holiday. Fortunately, I have a key and I didn't think she'd mind if I borrowed the stamp set for the weekend. (Thanks, Kim. I'll take good care of it and will bring it back promptly on Tuesday).

So I started this card on Friday night and finished it up on Saturday, complete with a hand made envelope. Since it is a frog, I wanted to use green paper. I had some card stock cut to 5 1/2 x 5 1/2. So I thought I'd make an odd size card since I was going to be hand delivering it anyway. I accidently left a mark right under the frog, hence the flower. It was pretty plain so I tried doing a border with colored pencil. Didn't really care for how it turned out, but I was committed so there it is. I do like the size and colors though.

The inside is pretty plain, but I think the dragonfly is cute. It's part of the frog stamp set I borrowed.

The "flight trail" is actually a plant stem from a set I have that came from Wal-Mart. The sentiment is from the same set. I thought about coloring the dragonfly too, but didn't know what kind of colors to use.

I didn't want to just hand the card to my parents, but didn't want it to shift around in a too-large envelope. So I made one.

It turned out better than I expected, but there are a couple of things I'll do differently next time. I made it out of a heavier paper but lighter than card stock.

I didn't really do the challenge, but then, I didn't expect to make anything anyway. Plus, I'm posting this on Sunday so I think I'm ahead of the game already.

Head on over to Sunday Scrappin' and check out what others are doing. Thanks for stopping by!

I am good at making cards ahead of time but stink at getting them out in the mail or to the person on time. I'll have to get this stamp. The card is cute and the size is perfect. Have a great week

I like the card- and I am so glad I'm not the only one who adds embellishments to cover up things. ;)

Hey, I made it on Sunday this week, too... must be in the air!

Frogs and dragonflies are two of my favorite critters! I love the card! My mother told me she doesn't expect me to remember her anniversary, so it was a relief to know I was off the hook, but of course that means she doesn't remember mine, either! Good thing I have a grandma still...LOL.
